Kids and Teens
From classic ballet to the latest moves in hip hop and break dance, our classes for kids and teens are designed to educate and inspire.
Our instructors are accomplished professionals with diverse backgrounds, ranging from award-winning choreographers to principal performers in national dance and theater companies.
The Conservatory encourages disciplined learning in a fun, supportive environment focused on personal development and creativity.
Please be sure to read Class attire (located under each class description) as the dancer is required to have the required outfit for class! Dancers without appropriate attire or footwear will not be able to take class!
Ballet/Pointe
Ballet/Tap Combo
Ballet /Tap Combo is designed to introduce the basics of ballet technique and proper classroom etiquette. Positions, vocabulary, musicality, and correct alignment of the spine will be the main focus. Tap technique, vocabulary, combinations , rhythm, musically will be explored in this class.
Class Attire (Purchase at studio)
Girls: Lavender Ballet dress, pink tights and pink ballet slippers, and black tap shoes. Hair should be pulled back neatly into a bun.
Boys: White t-shirt and black shorts or sweats and appropriate shoes.
Ballet II
Ballet II is a continuation of Ballet I fundamentals, with the addition of more complex vocabulary and technical steps. Class includes combinations at the barre, in the center, and across the floor. In addition, we incorporate stretching and performing techniques.
Class Attire (Purchase at studio)
Girls: Teal leotard, pink tights and pink ballet slippers. Hair should be pulled back neatly into a bun.
Boys: White t-shirt and black pants.
Ballet III/Prepointe
Ballet of III is a continuation of Ballet II fundamentals, with the addition of more complex vocabulary and technical steps. Dancers warm up at the barre, in the center, and across the floor. Dancers are required to take two classes per week. An additional 3rd class is highly recommended.
Class Attire (Purchase at studio)
Girls: Plum leotard, and pink convertible tights and pink ballet slippers (no skirt). Hair should be pulled back neatly into a bun.
Boys: White t-shirt and black pants.
Ballet IV/Beginning Pointe (Placement by Director)
Dancers in Ballet IV have solid ballet technique. The class teaches complex exercises focusing on proper body alignment, more advanced barre exercises, strength, core and flexibility work. Across the floor combinations are executed to enhance the dancers’ basic turns and traveling steps. Challenging combinations are introduced to encourage dancers to learn new steps more quickly. Their ballet vocabulary will also be expanded while embracing the art of performing skills. Dancers are required to take a minimum of three classes per week.
Class Attire
Girls: Navy leotard, pink convertible tights and pink ballet slippers. Hair should be pulled back neatly into a bun.
Boys: White t-shirt and black pants.
Ballet V/Pointe (Placement by Director)
Dancers in Ballet VB have solid ballet technique. The class teaches complex exercises focusing on proper body alignment, more advanced barre exercises, strength, core and flexibility work. Across the floor combinations are executed to enhance the dancers’ basic turns and traveling steps. Challenging combinations are introduced to encourage dancers to learn new steps more quickly. Their ballet vocabulary will also be expanded while embracing the art of performing skills. Dancers are required to take a minimum of three classes per week.

Ballet VI/Pointe (Placement by Director)
Ballet VI offers advanced ballet technique for the serious dancer. Dancers improve upon their technique by executing more complex combinations, advanced turns and intricate diagonal work. At this level, dancers will be expected to execute combinations relying more on vocal cues as opposed to just demonstration. Dancers will work to maintain the technique they have worked on thus far, and begin executing movement in a professional manner. Dancers are required to take a minimum of three classes per week.
Class Attire
Girls: Black leotard, pink convertible tights and pink ballet slippers. Hair should be pulled back neatly into a bun.
Boys: White t-shirt and black pants
Combo Classes
Class Attire ( Ballet and Tap Combo)
Girls: Lavender leotard, pink tights and pink ballet slippers, and black tap shoes. Hair should be pulled back neatly into a bun.
Boys: White t-shirt and black shorts or sweats and appropriate shoes.
Class Attire ( Jazz and Tap Combo)
Any color leotard, Black jazz pants/leggings, and black jazz shoes. Hair in a bun or pony tail.
Class Attire ( Hip Hop/Acro Combo)
Any color leotard, Black jazz pants/leggings, and black jazz shoes. Hair in a bun or pony tail.
Contemporary
Elements of Ballet and modern dance technique. This creative class explores energy and breath, freedom of movement and artistic individuality. Warm ups, across the floor progressions, combinations and improvisation will be included.
Class Attire:
Leotard, black leggings or jazz pants, bare feet.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop is a fast-paced class focused on body isolations, rhythmic movements and fun combinations. Appropriate hip hop music with an up tempo beat will enhance the movement and choreography. Movement quality and musicality will be a main focus, as well as fun!
Class Attire
Girls: Any color leotard or top, black jazz pants/leggings, and split sole black jazz shoes or jazz sneakers. Hair should be neatly pulled back into a ponytail.
Boys: Any color t-shirt and black shorts or sweats and black split sole jazz shoes or sneakers.
Hip Hop/AcroDance Combo
This combo class incorporates Hip Hop and street dancing techniques and choreography with elements of Acro and tumbling for dance. This class is fun and high energy. Movement quality and musicality will also be a focus.
Class Attire
Girls: Any color leotard or top, black dance shorts or leggings, and split sole black jazz shoes or jazz sneakers. Hair should be neatly pulled back into a ponytail.
Boys: Any color t-shirt and black shorts or sweats and black split sole jazz shoes or sneakers.
Jazz Technique
This popular class will focus on traditional jazz dance technique starting with warm-ups, stretching and conditioning, jazz isolations and center movement, across the floor progressions including stylized jazz walks, runs, leaps, turns and kicks. Combinations of steps will be taught and some improvisation will be included. Popular, upbeat music will be used for a really high energy and fun class.
Class attire
Any color leotard, Black jazz pants/leggings, and black jazz shoes. Hair in a bun or pony tail.
Lyrical Jazz
Elements of ballet and jazz are combined to create flowing and expressive movement combining leaps, turns, and other creative balletic choreography. Dancers are encouraged to feel the music and use their whole mind and body to create the movement and dance from within. Ballet class is highly recommended and is required for Advanced Lyrical Jazz.
Class Attire
Girls: Any color leotard, convertible tights or black jazz pants/leggings, and Lyrical shoes. No baggy pants or big, loose shirts.
Boys: Any color t-shirt and black shorts or sweats.
Musical Theater
Broadway style theater dance includes jazz and contemporary dance styles popular in musicals for the stage as well as film. Old time favorites and today’s more popular shows will be explored. Acting and characterization will also be a focus.
Class Attire
All students should be dressed in Theater Black with black jazz shoes. (Black 2″ heel character shoes for advanced classes.)
Tap
This style of American theatrical dance is distinguished by percussive footwork that marks out precise rhythmic patterns on the floor. Using your taps as instruments, this is a great class for enhancing your own style and musicality and greatly compliments the other dance forms.
Class Attire
Black jazz pants or leggings, any color leotard, Bloch black split sole tap shoe.
Acro Dance
Acrobatics, tumbling, core strength, endurance and flexibility, for the dancer are the main focus of this class. Students will also work on turns and leaps specific to dance and the performing arts. This unique class will follow the Acrobatics Arts Trademarked Syllabus. (TM) this class is great for competition team dancers.
Class Attire
Dance shorts and leotard are required. This class is barefoot.
